Meet the Team

Leadership Team

Senior Leadership Team

I have always worked with children, starting as a badminton coach for Yorkshire, Keighley, Bradford and Durham whilst playing badminton competitively myself at a city, county and university level.

Following the completion of my Human Geography degree at Northumbria University, I embarked on my educational journey as a Teaching Assistant at a school in central Bradford. From there, I moved on to complete my PGCE at Cambridge University, where I was awarded the Charles Fox Prize for my contributions to the course. I returned to central Bradford to teach, where I was awarded the Telegraph and Argus Newcomer of the Year Award for my work in Early Years, and I came to teach in Harrogate from September 2018.

Reading has always been a passion of mine, and I am obsessed with diversity and representation in children's literature. I have worn many hats throughout my teaching and leadership journey, but nothing makes me happier than being a dad. I have a son and daughter who fill me with joy and pride every day.

(Mrs Storton works on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday)

My teaching journey began in Manchester, where I trained to become a teacher and gained invaluable experience working across a variety of schools. After qualifying, I taught in a primary school where I led English and Key Stage One, roles that strengthened my passion for early education.

In September 2018, I was delighted to join Oatlands Infant School as Deputy Headteacher. Since then, I have enjoyed a range of responsibilities, including class teacher and Teaching and Learning Lead. Nothing makes me happier than being in the classroom—sharing children’s curiosity, celebrating their achievements, and witnessing those magical ‘lightbulb’ moments when new learning suddenly clicks.

Outside of school, my favourite roles are Mummy and wife. As a family, we love exploring new places and spending time with our family and friends.

I studied to become a teacher after completing an Early Years and Education Studies degree in 2013. With 2 small children, I was able to gain a 1st class degree which I hold as one of my proudest achievements to date.

My final teaching placement was at Oatlands Infant School in Early Years. Once I arrived at the school I was welcomed with open arms and knew it was a team, I wanted to become a part of.

Since then, I have worked in all year groups gaining lots of experience. This provided me with the opportunity to work across the trust and with the DfE to support other settings in the wider community. Within school, I am Co-Deputy with responsibility for special educational needs. I am also Staff Governor and teach the Dolphin Class, part-time.

Outside of school I enjoy spending quality time with my partner, daughters and dog Maggie. I love to shop for clothes (specifically charity shops!), go to the gym, run and eat.

I am Maggie, the Oatlands Therapy Dog. I qualified to be a therapy dog in September 2024 after some rigorous training with my owner, Miss Shaw.

My job in school is to help support behaviour, children with additional needs as well as small group nurture and reading sessions. I work on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

I am a 3-year-old Yorkiepoo, and I'm much smaller than you'd expect. I love nothing more than cuddles and being held and surrounded by adults and children. My favourite food is cheese, and I enjoy being in big fields where I can bounce around and play with my family. I have 2 older human sisters, Edie and Violet and I am their favourite member of our family. They take me everywhere!

Our Foundation Team

Originally from West Yorkshire, I graduated from Durham University in 2016 with a degree in Primary Education. I then taught in Leeds for 5 years where I found my love for the Early Years.

Outside of school, my wife and I love going on adventures with our dog Sonny, seeing musicals at the theatre, and taking on creative projects. I also enjoy yoga, dance, and a good book in my spare time!

I studied to become a teacher at York St John University, where I qualified in 2015.

My specialism is teaching Early Years, where I have taught Nursery up to Year 1. I have worked in a variety of primary schools, including a Kindergarten in Australia. Outside of work, I enjoy taking my daughter Lottie out on adventures and go for long walks. I love to challenge myself and do things out of my comfort zone (for example, swimming with sharks!). I love reading, exercising, cooking, and more importantly… eating!

I am originally from near Harrogate and after graduating from Durham University with a degree in Politics, I worked for a local social enterprise.

In 2016, I decided to follow my become a primary school teacher, completing my PGCE at Newcastle University. After qualifying, I worked in a large primary school on the outskirts of Newcastle as a Key Stage 2 teacher, then subsequently spent five months living and volunteering in a small community in the Arctic Circle. I have a passion for languages and can now speak Norwegian as well as French and German. I actually came to Oatlands as a supply teacher in 2020 before joining the team full-time.

Outside of school, I enjoy exploring the outdoors with my partner and friends (we love the Lake District!) and going to the gym. I am also very partial to a good book and a mooch around the local charity shops to hunt down those bargains!

I am originally from Tenerife, Spain. I obtained my degree in English and Literature at Universidad de La Laguna (University of La Laguna).

I moved to the UK in 2010 when I started to work as a Spanish language assistant at a couple of high schools in Harrogate. I have also worked as a Spanish tutor. Later on, I completed my teaching assistant qualification and I have also worked as a midday supervisor.

I am married and we have two children who currently attend Oatlands Infants and Oatlands Juniors School. We also have a dog called Cusco.

Key Stage 1 Team

I started working at Oatlands Infants in 2015 and I am currently teaching in year 2.

I have a degree in European Business Studies with French from the University of Hull and spent a few years working for the exam boards and for the local council. I then chose a change of career in 2013 when I completed a PGCE primary course at Bradford College

Out of school I am kept very busy with my two children, husband and our dog. I enjoy keeping fit, reading lots and spending time outdoors with my family.

Growing up with such a large family, I quickly became fascinated by how children grow, develop and learn.

This led to me studying Social Psychology at Loughborough, followed by a PGCE course. I have been teaching at Oatlands since 2019, mostly in Year 2. In my spare time I enjoy baking, as well as walking and meeting up with friends.

I graduated from University in Leeds where I completed my BA primary hons degree in primary education specialising in ages 5-11.

Outside of school I enjoy horse riding, playing tennis, shopping and walking my Labrador in beautiful Nidderdale where I live. This will be my first year at Oatlands Infant school and I am looking forward to immersing myself in school life.

(Mrs Hunt is the class teacher on Wednesday afternoon, all day Thursday and Friday)

Having completed my final teaching placement here, I  became a teacher at Oatlands Infant School in 2005.

I am originally from Harrogate but moved away to study for my degree in Fine Art at the University of Kingston-Upon-Thames, before returning to study for my PGCE in Primary Education at the University of Leeds.  In amongst my studies, I spent a Gap Year in Dominican Republic and then, in 2010, took a year’s leave to work in a primary school in Nicaragua.

I love to sing and really enjoy my Wednesday afternoons leading Singing Assembly, as well as running Singing Club after school on Thursdays.  I currently work with Mrs. Halsall to teach Hedgehogs Class, as part of a job-share, and I also coordinate the 'We Are Artists' Team (Art, Music and Languages) throughout the school.

My husband and I live in Starbeck with our son and daughter.  Our favourite family pastimes are gardening, DIY and filling the house with friends.  I also help run a toddler group at church and volunteer with an adults' singing group, to keep me busy when I’m not at school.

(Mrs Halsall is the class teacher all day Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning)

In September 2007, I became a Reception teacher at Oatlands Infant School.

I taught in Reception for three years and I currently teach in Year One. My degree is in Sociology, which I studied at The University of Sheffield. I then completed my PGCE at York St John University. I have completed a Masters in Educational Research, which I  found very interesting.

I live in Harrogate with my husband, son and daughter. In my spare time I enjoy playing tennis for a local team. Oatlands is a fantastic school to work in, with such supportive parents, children and staff.

I’ve been teaching for nearly 10 years, with experience across both Early Years and Key Stage One.

I’m passionate about helping young learners build strong foundations, especially in maths — I’m a Mastery Maths Specialist with the NCETM and love supporting children to grow in confidence and curiosity.

Outside of school, I’m kept busy by my little girl, Elsie, who brings lots of fun and energy to my days!

I have been working as a teacher for almost a decade. I completed a PGCE in Lower Primary Education at York St John University graduating in 2014, I also have a degree in Social Policy from Leeds University. I have worked at two small schools with mixed aged classes within EYFS and KS1.

Prior to my PGCE I worked for two years in a private day nursery in Harrogate. Whilst in this position I completed an ECaT (Every Child a Talker) course about early language acquisition, leading me to become an Early Language Lead Practitioner. I'm still very interested in how children learn and I am passionate about finding out how each child learns in the best way for them.  This year I am completing an NPQ in Leading Literacy, continuing to develop my knowledge about how children learn in order to provide our children with amazing opportunities to learn.

Out of school I love walking and camping with my husband and little dog Elvin. Also, I love music and enjoy a wide range of genres though mainly guitar based music and pop punk. I am a proud supporter of our local music scene, many of my friends are in bands and I very much enjoy seeing them play at local gigs. I enjoy concerts and festivals. I also enjoy reading, playing a variety of board games and watching films and TV shows.

I spent my childhood in West Yorkshire and dreamed of being a teacher someday, so off I went to University in the Lake District and Lancashire to get my degree.

During my 25 Years as a teacher, I have worked in a variety of different schools in East and North Yorkshire. My passion for education firmly lies with working with younger children.

I started as a supply teacher at Oatlands in 2019 and have loved every moment spent at this school. I knew it was a place I’d love to work in full time with amazing staff and pupils.

In my spare time I enjoy visiting historic and national trust properties. Living in Ripon I frequently walk to Fountains Abbey. To relax I love to bake and I’m the one who decorates the birthday cakes for family and friends.

I have always worked with children. I started by working in nurseries with mainly preschool children for nine years before becoming a nanny for seven years. I love working with children and seeing them develop, learn and become their own unique individuals.

I have two boys aged 4 and 11 so home is very busy! We love going on walks and for picnics. I also love cooking and am a keen quizzer!

I graduated university in 2024 with a first class honours Primary Education degree. I completed my final placement here at Oatlands, in Koalas class, and I had the most amazing experience. I could not resist coming back as a HLTA!

I have a passion for everything football! I spend my free time playing and watching football with my friends and family. My favourite thing to do is taking trips to watch the mighty Leeds United at Elland Road!

I started working at Oatlands Infant School in 2020 following an extended period of time bringing up my two young children and my two stepsons.

Prior to becoming a mum, I worked as an Events Manager for an executive recruitment company. I was keen to find a job around my family that was valuable and rewarding so I began volunteering at the school which in turn led to my TA role. Upon completion of my HLTA, I now teach through all year groups in the afternoons. I predominantly work in Year 1 in Hedgehogs but also provide additional learning support to the other Year 1 classes if required. It's lovely to get to know all the children and I am looking forward to supporting them in their learning journey.

I am currently a teaching assistant in the Year 2 Koala class as well as a midday supervisor.

My professional background has always been in childcare, working as a private nanny for over 17 years.

I am married with 2 cats and I have a very lively little boy who keeps me on my toes!

I am currently supporting children in the Year 1 Owls class and I am also a midday supervisor. I have a Level 3 qualification in Early Years.

Outside of school I have a partner, two children, a dog and a cat that keep me very busy! I love to support my children with their football training and games. I also volunteer at their football club, helping to run the cafe there. Until recently I was also a volunteer with Girlguiding UK as a Rainbows unit helper.

In my spare time I enjoy keeping active, baking and getting together with family and friends.

I started here at Oatlands as a parent volunteer reading in various classes within the school. Alongside that I became an MSA and as I continue that role, I am also now a Teaching Assistant in the Year 1 Squirrels class.

Outside of school I enjoy spending quality time with my fiancé and 2 children, as a family we are keen Rugby fans and attend matches when we can!
