PE & Sport Premium
Schools can choose how they use the funding, for example to:
- Hire specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers during PE lessons;
- Support and involve the least active children by running after-school sports clubs and holiday clubs, e.g. the Change4Life clubs;
- Provide resources and training courses in PE and sport for teachers;
- Run sport competitions or increase pupils’ participation in the School Games;
- Run sports activities with other schools.  
Children’s physical skills are developed through games and gymnastics. An annual sports activities afternoon is held using the school grounds and neighbouring park. To ensure your child’s safety jewellery must be removed for Physical Education lessons and long hair tied back. Children who have pierced ears will be required to remove their earrings before engaging in a PE lesson. 
Our Active Offer
As an Infant School, we have a highly unusual active offer for our children and wider community. We have worked in close partnership with North Yorkshire Sport, with use of the 'Opening School Facilities' funding and the Mayor's Active Travel Grant, to provide a range of exciting active opportunities to our community. We recognise that we have the opportunity to create passion and positivity around physical activity and health in our children, and as staff we work hard to model healthy habits. Below is a summary of our active 'above and beyond' offer in school:
- Monthly Bike Bus, free to use Bike Library, and Secret Garden
- Opportunities to work with a range of external organisations including football clubs and other schools
- Balance bike lessons for all EYFS children, delivered in house by our Active Ambassador
- Heavily discounted / free cycling lessons over holidays with Ready Steady Pedal
- Free Dr Bike community bike maintenance days
- A wide range of active clubs, including holiday clubs, all heavily discounted
- An on-site gym for staff across Yorkshire Causeway Schools Trust (YCST), with plans to offer heavily discounted personal training sessions to parents and carers
