School Clubs

Here at Oatlands Infant School, we are proud to offer a variety of exciting extra-curricular school clubs that run both on a lunchtime and after school. If you are interested in joining any of the clubs mentioned, please contact our friendly school office for more information.

We have capacity for between 30% and 45% of our pupils to attend a wide range of funded, free and charged-for clubs. We recognise that this is a highly unusual number; however we believe that children - despite being so young - should have a range of exciting active and academic club opportunities offered by school and external providers.

Booking:

You can book onto the courses that have places via:

ParentPay for Art Club, Storytelling Club and Well Being Club,

Arbor for Multi Skills Club, Hockey Club and Singing Club.  Singing Club initially is only being offered to those children who had a place this half-term)

What is a school council?

The school council is a group of students who have been elected to represent all pupils within school. It is the responsibility of each Councillor to ensure that they express both their own views  and the views of all the other pupils they represent. The school council allows children to  have a ‘voice’ in school issues  and provides them opportunities to communicate their feelings about how the school could be improved. We respect and value the thoughts and opinions of our children and whilst it may not always be possible or practical to do everything they suggest, the children do have some fantastic ideas and are able to accept why some ideas may not work well for the school community.  During meetings children are given the opportunity to discuss items that are important to them and their class. The minutes of the meeting are then circulated to each class teacher for feedback to their class and to the head teacher.

Why have a School Council?

  • To help children develop responsible attitudes.

  • To improve behaviour.

  • To create a feeling of belonging.

  • To develop listening skills.

  • To improve self-confidence.

  • To improve pupil/teacher relationships.

School council meetings are held by Miss Mitchell.
