Who's who in Turtles.

Message to Parents and Carers.

Here is some information on how you can help support your child at school and at home. As always, there is no pressure to do any extra activities at home, however some ideas of quick, easy and fun things to do are detailed below.

Your child has a reading record and book suited to their current reading stage. This will be checked regularly to enable them to move up a level when appropriate. We aim to read with your child at-least once a week. Please bring in your child’s reading book and planner every day so we can change their book if needed or read with them. Often the children forget they need a new book so please encourage them to let us know if it needs changing! If you are ever able to spare some time to listen to our class read please let us know! Every time your child reads with you, please ensure their reading record is signed.

In maths we are looking at addition and subtraction. Below, are some fun games that your child can play at home. 'Hit the button' on 'Topmarks' is a great game where children can practice number bonds, doubling and halving as well as other associated number facts. In the front of your child’s planner, there is a sticker with their times table rock stars (TTRS) log in details. We will not be learning times tables until we have finished addition and subtraction however, if your child would like to start learning them with you at home, they are able to learn their ten times tables only on TTRS.  The maths curriculum page shows you what we will be covering this year in case your child would like to start looking at concepts at home or with a tutor.

Show and tell dates.

Children are welcome to bring in an interesting item for show and tell on the following Fridays for this half  term:

Hawksbill Turtles:

Flatback Turtles:

Leatherback Turtles:

Loggerhead Turtles:

Green Sea Turtles:

PE

Turtles will have PE on a Thursday. Please send your child in weather appropriate PE kit on Thursday as we try to go outside where possible!

Maths

TTRS (Times table rock stars) practice is a fun way that children can practice their times tables at home. Each child has a sticker inside their planner with their personal log in details. Please speak to Miss Mogg if you need a new copy of these details. Hit the button is also a great way to practice concepts like halving, doubling and number bonds.

Spellings

We aim to practice a range of spellings from the year 1/2 common exception word list twice a week to support the children within their writing. Our next spelling test is on _____ and the spellings are:

Home Readers

When you read with your child at home, please write a comment to that effect (or just your initials) in the school planner. Please try and read with your child each day, even if it’s only a couple of pages or for a few minutes, every little helps. We will aim to read with your child at least once a week in school. If your child needs a new book during the week, they can pass their book and planner to Miss Joo who will change it for them.

Autumn walk and activities!
