Our Curriculum of Happiness
At Oatlands Infant School we are passionate about early childhood development and the importance of fostering a life-long love of learning in young children. We want every one of our pupils to achieve their very best and to flourish into confident, inquisitive and articulate learners, while developing resilience and tolerance. Most importantly, we want our children to feel happy and safe.
We believe all children have the right to a first-class learning journey, no matter their background or what challenges they may face, facilitated by passionate, knowledgeable educators. We focus on the holistic development of all pupils in our care whilst developing their expertise across our broad and balanced curriculum. Children at Oatlands see themselves and their local, national and global communities reflected by their curriculum, and they develop their self-awareness as they explore the amazing world around themselves.
Our values and experience-led curriculum provides context and purpose within our childrens' learning journeys, and we creatively adapt our teaching practice, in line with the latest research, to ensure that all children are given every opportunity to thrive throughout their time here at Oatlands Infant School.

Nurtured: We provide a safe space in which children, regardless of their background, can learn without fear of failure. We encourage children to intrepidly take risks and to try new things, and we support our pupils as they build relationships deeply rooted in tolerance, trust, mutual respect and kindness.
Inspired: Our ambition is to light the fires of learning that children will carry with them for the rest of their lives. As an infant school, we have the exciting opportunity to lay the foundations of children's learning journeys toward them being productive members of tomorrow's society.
Happy: You are only a child once, so you might as well enjoy it! Learning should be fun, context-driven and experience-led. Our children also develop a deep understanding of themselves, which promotes their self-worth and self-esteem as they explore the world around themselves.
