Who's Who

Our Leadership Team

Mr Christopher Harrison

Headteacher

I have always worked with children, starting as a badminton coach for Yorkshire, Keighley, Bradford and Durham whilst playing badminton competitively myself at a city, county and university level. Following the completion of my Human Geography degree at Northumbria University, I embarked on my educational journey as a Teaching Assistant at a school in central Bradford. From there, I moved on to complete my PGCE at Cambridge University, where I was awarded the Charles Fox Prize for my contributions to the course. I returned to central Bradford to teach, where I was awarded the Telegraph and Argus Newcomer of the Year Award for my work in Early Years, and I came to teach in Harrogate from September 2018.

Reading has always been a passion of mine, and I am obsessed with diversity and representation in children's literature. I have worn many hats throughout my teaching and leadership journey, but nothing makes me happier than being a dad. I have a son and daughter who fill me with joy and pride every day.

Mrs Kathryn Storton

Co-Deputy Headteacher and Teaching & Learning Lead

(Mrs Storton works on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday)

I studied to become a teacher at Manchester Metropolitan University.  Once qualified, I taught at a primary school where I led English and Key Stage One. In September 2018, I moved to Oatlands Infant School to become the Deputy Headteacher.

Out of school I enjoy exploring new places with my husband, meeting up with family and friends and going for long country walks.

Miss Abby Shaw

Co-Deputy Headteacher and Inclusion Lead

I studied to become a teacher after completing an Early Years and Education Studies degree in 2013. With 2 small children, I was able to gain a 1st class degree which I hold as one of my proudest achievements to date.

My final teaching placement was at Oatlands Infant School in Early Years. Once I arrived at the school I was welcomed with open arms and knew it was a team I wanted to become a part of.

Since then I have worked in all year groups gaining lots of experience. This provided me with the opportunity to work across the trust and with the DfE to support other settings in the wider community. Within school, I am Co-Deputy with responsibility for teaching and learning and special educational needs. I am also Staff Governor and teach the Dolphin Class, part-time.

Outside of school I enjoy spending quality time with my partner, daughters and dog Maggie. I love to shop for clothes (specifically charity shops!), go to the gym, run and eat.

Maggie Shaw

Therapy Dog

I am Maggie, the Oatlands Therapy Dog. I qualified to be a therapy dog in September 2024 after some rigorous training with my owner, Miss Shaw.

My job in school is to help support behaviour, children with additional needs as well as small group nurture and reading sessions. I work on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

I am a 3 year old Yorkiepoo, and I'm much smaller than you'd expect. I love nothing more than cuddles and being held and surrounded by adults and children. My favourite food is cheese and I enjoy being in big fields where I can bounce around and play with my family. I have 2 older human sisters, Edie and Violet and I am their favourite member of our family. They take me everywhere!
