On Monday 20th June it was Oatlands Infant School airport day. This is a day which we use for the children to learn about another country and we had a pretend flight from our very busy school airport as you can see from the picture. The children went through a check-in procedure and then boarded their ‘plane’. In-flight refreshments were served and an in-flight movie was screened. The afternoon was spent discovering facts about the chosen country of the class we landed in and doing related activities.
Today the children sampled food from eight countries and then had an English picnic lunch. A big thank you to all our parent volunteers for their help at the country food tables and to all our parents for making the amazing food.
On Thursday the weather turned good and the sun came out for our Sports Afternoon. The red team won the sports trophy for the second year. Well done to everyone who took part. A big thank you to the PTA for organising refreshments, to Marks & Spencer for their cake donations, to the Junior school Year 5 children who helped and to everyone who came along to help make the afternoon very special.
Today we had our street party to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday. Unfortunately the weather this morning was not very good so we held the street party in the hall which was decorated with bunting. The children had made royal crowns which they all wore to lunch. There were sandwiches, sausage rolls, nibbles, cakes and soft drinks. Thank you to Mrs Robinson and her team and the governors who came in to help serve the children and help celebrate.
